Club Kit – Seniors

The Club’s kit and clothing policy can be found in document YSHC 2.6 Clothing and Equipment Policy and summarised below.  The only clothing players are required to have are those marked below with an asterisk; all other clothing such as outer clothing, training clothing and leisurewear is optional and down to personal choice.

The Club requires that all under-18 players wear a gum shield* and shin pads*, for training and playing matches, and strongly recommends all Senior players to do likewise. Other items of protective equipment, such as glove(s), should also be worn.  Similarly, while trainers can be worn Astro hockey shoes are recommended because they specifically designed for use on artificial pitches and provide more grip when changing direction.

IF IN DOUBT ABOUT THE SUITABILITY OF ANY ITEM OF PLAYING CLOTHING PLEASE SPEAK TO A LEAD COACH, OR THE CLUB CHAIR, BEFORE MAKING A PURCHASE.  Similarly club coaches may be consulted on items of hockey equipment such as sticks and shoes, or goalkeeping equipment.

Playing Shirt Numbers

The Club Membership Secretary controls the allocation of all shirt numbers for both senior men and ladies players, and for junior players playing in senior teams. When players purchase new shirts they should ensure that the number applied to the back is the one allocated to them. If necessary before making a purchase confirm the number that has been allocated with the Membership Secretary, whose details can be found on the Club Contacts page: The Club cannot be liable for any expenses incurred by players having to replace shirts because of incorrect numbering.

Men’s Match Shirts. New players will be allocated the next available number by the Membership Secretary.

Ladies Match Shirts. New players will be allocated the next available number by the Membership Secretary.

League Registration.  All players have to have a number registered to the respective league against their name. When a new player registers with the Club they will be assigned a shirt number by the Membership Secretary and the league will be informed of the number and name:  This name and number must be the ones recorded on the match record sheet on GMS.

The Membership Secretary’s decision is final on the matter of allocating playing shirt numbers:  Player’s may request a particular number and provided it has not already been allocated and is available, every effort will be made for them to have that number.  Any low numbers that are available will be used first.
