The regimented side from Kingsbridge and Salcombe were this week’s visitors to the Recreation Centre on Saturday, I say regimented because they shout out their warm up moves like the US marines!!  A brisk and bright Saturday morning and after a good warm up, the Yeovil and Sherborne team flew out of the blocks from the off and had won a short corner within 30 seconds of the starting whistle, unable to convert Y&S then spent the next 15 minutes pressing and counter pressing the Kingsbridge circle looking for that breakthrough.  However it was Kingsbridge who had first spoils when a breakaway had Y&S back in their own circle when unable to clear, the Kingsbridge striker from an acute angle, fired home beyond the outstretched left foot of the Y&S Becky Frater.  Undeterred Y&S continued to press and were finally rewarded for their persistence when Sadie Watson fired home from close range to put the home side level.  Confidence now riding high it was to be how many more could they score?  Again from open play this time it was Hannah Bell who was to put the home side in front.  A quick ball out from defence went down the right hand channel in from the bottom end of the pitch and a clinical finish, putting Y&S 2-1 ahead into half time.
The second half again saw Y&S spending most of the time in the Kingsbridge half, although Frater did have to make a number of saves and keep on her toes to deny any further advancement in the visitor scoreline, as did the defence need to hold firm and composed as they did for the full 35 second half minutes, supporting the midfield and forwards and once again after a further quick ball out from the defence it was Hannah Bell, after some fantastic work down the right from Phylli Cligg and Sophie Cahill, put the result beyond doubt and Y&S securing another 3 points.  Bell with a brace was awarded Players’ Player by her team mates and Y&S travel to fellow top of the table rivals Somerset Gryphons next Saturday.
