It was a sensibly timed game at home this week for the Ladies as they entertained another University based team, ISCA 3s from Exeter, at the Yeovil Recreation Centre.  Looking to continue their great form of late the Ladies went for it straight from the off, putting their visitors under immense pressure and after five or so minutes were rewarded for their efforts with a short corner. Some great working around the circle it was Sophie Cahill who got the final strike and Yeovil and Sherborne were 1-0 up.  After the restart Y&S kept up the pressure with ISCA just not being able to stem the flow of attacks. Georgie Belt was given far too much room as she manoeuvred her way along the base line to neatly pass to a patiently waiting Sadie Watson, who strongly committed to getting the ball over the goal line to make it 2-0. Watson then got her second, again from close range, as an open play attack increased the home team’s score to a commanding strong lead of 3-0. A short corner earned Belt her goal of the game, a great strike from the top of the circle.  Just before the end of the first half, Y&S were awarded a flick and Libby Walters stepped forward hungry for the strike which she aced into the corner of the net and the Blues were cruising into a half time lead of 5-0.

At the restart ISCA appeared to come out with more conviction and organisation than their lacklustre first half display. They forced Y&S into their own half for a short time and managed to grab a consolation goal from one of their four short corners; a pretty good defence rate though for the home defence. Y&S kept persisting at the other end however and Sadie Watson was to have the last laugh and a hat-trick to boot! Strongly and determinedly Watson forced the ball over the line for Yeovil’s 6th.

A final score of 6-1 so Y&S won the first half convincingly and drew the second, overall not a bad day’s work and Watson, quite rightly was awarded Players’ Player by her team mates.
