So after the small disappointment of a draw last week Yeovil and Sherborne were keen to be at home again and looked forward to entertaining the youngsters of Plymouth University.  They had to start with 9 players as a car had had issues on route however they came out fighting (not literally) and put Y&S under pressure from the off. However Y&S got into their stride quickly too and were able to capitalise on the slight advantage after about 15 minutes as the Plymouth team started to tire.  The goal came from open play as the ball came from defence and down the channel to release Sadie Watson and Georgie Belt in space, and after slipping the ball with precision it was Belt who fired home from close range.  Minutes later Y&S scored in almost identical fashion however this time it was Belt who turned provider for Millie Walters to fire home, again from close range.  Towards the end of the half the two missing players from the University arrived and got straight into the game when they had a short corner awarded in their favour however they were unable to convert as the Y&S defence held strong and firm.
Y&S came out strong in the second half and although the University team kept pressing and looking for opportunities it was Y&S who were able to stretch their lead further. With her first goal for the ladies first team, Caitlin Waller took the shot and then the rebound to fire home again from close range.  Y&S continued to press and play the ball around until the end of the second half and came away 3-0 victors.  Some excellent work from the whole team made the Players’ Player decision tough with nominations to Pippa Parker, Libby Walters, Saskia Vermeer, Debs Gemmell and Hannah Bell however it ended up being shared between Debs Gemmell and Hannah Bell.  Y&S travel down to Exeter next week to play Isca 3s.
