The final match for the first half of the season and it was a short trip down the A30/303 to a windy and blustery (with squally showers!) Exeter to play Exe 2s.  Exe 2 had been promoted last season from South division and have been holding their own in this league so the Ladies knew it was not going to be an easy ride!  As has been a familiar pattern this season the ladies went out from the first whistle to press their opposition hard, and a number of opportunities to get into the circle were created, with Exe holding on and not letting Yeovil and Sherborne get in a direct shot.  The pressing continued and Y&S were finally rewarded for their persistence with a short corner.  This was well worked however not converted but gave the chance to see where they should really be looking to place the ball and this definitely worked to their advantage as when the second short corner was awarded Y&S were able to score, with some great work at the top of the circle between Sophie Cahill and Sadie Watson then with space gave Cahill the chance to convert and Y&S had to defend hard then until the half time whistle to keep themselves in front.  A fortunate kick of the ball from an Exe player had denied themselves an equaliser.
For the second half it was end to end stuff, first of all with Y&S winning a short corner within moments of the restart, sadly not able to be converted but went oh so close!  Georgie Belt being denied the opportunity of a strike even though she had beaten a number of players on a number of occasions with her immense skill, and the defence, with special mention to Libby Walters and Debs Gemmell, who held firm at the back denying Exe their opportunity to score at every counter attack.  Everyone continued to run up and back to preserve the small lead and were very glad to hear the final whistle with a 1-0 win for Yeovil and with other results going their way only now 1 point behind league leaders Bournemouth as the Christmas break now takes hold.  Fantastic work from Hannah Bell who ran tirelessly for the whole game meant she was awarded Players’ Player by her team mates
