Just a little trip down the road to play Isca 3s on Saturday!  Isca are always a little different to play at their home ground as the University students are able to get out of bed and roll to the pitch which means that its not always the same team that travel away!  Playing on the water based pitch, with the weather being rain this would mean that the pitch would not be likely to dry out and so there was no wasted time to have it watered!  The matched started on time and everyone was on their toes and playing at full capacity and speed right from the off, Isca being awarded a short corner in the first 4 minutes and converting. Yeovil and Sherborne were quick to respond with an open play goal minutes later after great team work finally released Saskia Vermeer to feign her pass and give the ball to Georgie Belt who fired home from close range. Isca were back in front again with an amazing reverse stick strike from left of the top of the circle into the top right hand corner of the Y&S net, just beating the outstretched glove hand of keeper Becky Frater.  It was 2-1 to Isca and only 7 minutes had gone!  Things then settled down and a near mirror image of Y&S’s first goal, was converted by Saskia Vermeer from close range to put Y&S back on level terms.  It was end to end stuff with attack and then counter attack and Y&S’s defence were kept pretty busy all the way through the first half. The drama didn’t end as Y&S went ahead with a further goal from Georgie Belt before Isca equalised!
Sadie Watson was on the score sheet with a close range strike before Isca equalised minutes later.   No team wanted to give each other any space or make any errors to give the other the advantage and the game continued at the fast pace of the first half.  With 15 minutes remaining of the match, Isca scored and looked to have edged the win before some great work out of defence saw Pippa Parker speed down the right wing where Kate Baker, waiting in the circle, cleanly struck and fired home to put the scores level once more.  Final score 5-5. As Bournemouth lost away to Newquay that puts Y&S within 2 points of their top of the league rivals with Y&S playing Bournemouth at the Yeovil Recreation centre next Saturday.
Players’ Player went to Georgie Belt for her brace of goals.
