It was not quite the longest trip of the season but a road trip none the less, off the Ladies 1’s travelled down to mizzly Devon where the challenge for the day was not only the time of the game, a 3pm start, but also the Plymouth University team who were worthy adversaries last year down in Plymouth with a 5-5 all draw the end result.

So the ladies knew that it was going to be no walk in the park, however, with the wind in their sails after last weeks result they felt positive to give the University side a good run for their money!  Having won a short corner within two minutes of the start of the game, the Ladies were out of the blocks hard and fast and were 1-0 up within 2 minutes after a super strike by Sophie Cahill.  It was then a case of how many could they score! The Plymouth team defended hard and denied the Yeovil and Sherborne team another goal until the second half.
With the second half underway some great play allowed Sadie Watson to get her first, Y&S’s second, by slipping the ball neatly under the feet of the outstretched Plymouth keeper.  The pressure continued which Plymouth were trying to soak up but were starting to show breaches in their lines, when against the run of play they got a breakaway and fired the ball in the roof of the net passed the Y&S keeper!  Undeterred and confidence brimming, Y&S put that behind them as they attacked in waves once again. Georgie Belt finished with a lifted ball over the outstretched, grounded keeper, giving some comfort to the score line once more before Belt turned provider to Watson. From a quickly taken sideline hit Watson took on and wrong footed the keeper before emphatically firing home.  Final score to Y&S a well deserved 4 – 1 win.

Players’ Player could have gone to anyone as everyone played a considerable part in the result however it was finally shared between, Watson, Belt, Cahill and Hannah Bell.
