Yeovil & Sherborne Ladies 2’s travelled to Collumpton in Devon this weekend to play against ECVH. A slightly lacklustre start to the game saw Y&S face some pressure in the opening quarter, forcing Y&S’s keeper to hook a slow crawling ball off the back line to prevent ECVH taking an early lead. Y&S regained composure, building lots of play down the right wing with a strong performance from Tracey Rose but it was ECVH who took the lead with two goals, scoring the second just before half time with a penalty flick.
Y&S started much stronger in the second half, creating a number of chances and maintaining pressure in ECVH’s half. Y&S’s renewed form resulted in a quick goal from Su Waller on a penalty corner to make the score 2-1 but it wasn’t long before ECVH scored again following another quick break from the half way line to take the score to 3-1.
Both teams fought hard in the final quarter resulting in another goal from Y&S by Su Johnson, being neatly set up by Caitlin Waller.  Final minutes of the game saw a fast and furious effort by both teams with a number of shots on goal but the game ended 3-2 to ECVH.
Special mention goes to Tracey Rose for Players’ Player and to our newcomers in the team Lucy Renville and Kaitie Duggan
