The Ladies 2nd team had an early start on Saturday for an away game against Minehead which proved to be a very hard fought game.

Yeovil and Sherborne were under pressure from the very start with Minehead creating several chances within the first ten minutes but good work by Y&S’s defence and a number of saves from their keeper kept Minehead at bay and despite the early pressure from Minehead it was Y&S who scored first with a deflected shot from Sue Waller that put the ball over the keeper’s head to find the net.

Y&S’s lead wasn’t held for long with a quick goal from Minehead, created by some short quick passing in the circle to bypass he keeper, to take the score level. Y&S created a number of chances themselves but were unable to lift the ball over Minehead’s keeper to capitalise on them.

The second half started in much the same way as he first with most of the pressure coming from Y&S kept the score level until a neat slip between the Minehead forwards created n easy goal to take them 2-1 up.

Y&S’s resilience shone through with a well positioned shot on goal by Jo Bromme to bypass the keeper who went to ground early, brought the score level again. An end to end battle saw both sides attack and defend in equal measure but it was an unfortunate deflection that set up a shot for Minehead that enabled them to take the lead once again.

Y&S however proved their resilience and determination once again though, earning themselves a short corner to set up a goal from Mel Bredow to end the match 3-3.

Special mention to Jo Bromme for player’s player and the whole team for a genuinely all round team effort for a very well fought match.
