Yeovil & Sherborne Ladies Win Mendip Area Summer League and Mendip District Council Cup 2009
Yeovil Ladies Summer 1st XI have had a fantastic summer season winning both the Mendip District Council Cup and the Mendip Area League. The team have truly excelled on the pitch due to our consistently positive attitude and, most importantly, desire to have fun and enjoy our hockey. Thank you to Di Darch, Mel Coles, Harriet White and Kerry Mullen who were not able to play in the cup final but did a tremendous job in helping propel the team to success. Results for both Ladies Summer League teams are below.

Match Report
With the triumph of winning the Summer League still freshly ringing in the Yeovil and Sherborne girls’ ears, confidence was high going in to the Summer League Cup Final. However Avalon were not to be taken lightly as they were undefeated in their respective summer league and with a goal difference of plus 25, so victory was certainly not guaranteed. Y&S made the better start, dominating possession and getting a well deserved early goal through Claire Pearce. From this point Y&S did not look back and further goals in the first half came from Haz Parsons (2) and Sadie Watson with Avalon scoring one. A determined and persistent Avalon looked to build upon their first half goal after the change of ends, but the Y&S defensive unit comprising George Patterson, Debs Barter, Sarah Newton, Jo Holland and Tegan Williams stood strong and organised to deny Avalon. The Y&S attacking frame of mind continued and 4 further goals were scored in the second half. Parsons completed her hat trick and Barter scored two. Avalon continued to attack and were rewarded with a second half goal, however Kathryn Percy completed the rout for Yeovil and Sherborne to make the final score 8-2.
